Soror Venerable was born on November 12th and because of this, her mother selected Sigma Gamma Rho for her to join. It was most appropriate since the sorority was founded on November 12, 1922! Her mother had a Sigma Gamma Rho sign in her kitchen, so it was inevitable that she was to become a member of SGR. Her other reason for joining was that she wanted to be a part of the organization because of its high standards. Although she encountered life obstacles, she was determined to join! Her daughter is a Soror and there is a total of four Sigmas in her family.
Soror Venerable supports all committees, rather than serving on a particular one. Since joining the sorority, she has served previously as the Mwanamugimu Essay Contest Chairperson for 10 years. She has been a member of the Nominating and Social and Fundraising Committees and has served as Rhomania Chairperson.
Soror Venerable has a rich history as an educator. She has worked at the following places of education, Leslie Lewis, nine years; Louis Chaplain, eight years; John Hay Academy, ten years; she has held a position on the Chicago Board of Education as a Curriculum Coordinator and a Head Start Teacher.
