It’s Eta Xi Sigma’s mission to continue the path toward “Going for Sigma Gold: Celebrating Global Leadership and Visionary Service.” We strive to “Exceed Expectations” by providing impactful programming that creates positive change in our communities through scholarship, sisterhood and service.
As a new Basileus, it was very important to set Eta Xi Sigma’s mission, vision, values and goals when promoting Sigma for the sorority year. Working with our dynamic 1st Anti-Patterson, Dr. Ericka Patterson, we were able to provide a culture of collaboration and creativity. The executive board and committee chairpersons developed the autonomy to implement effective programming and events aligned with the standards of our organization. We also provided monthly empowerment training opportunities for the membership to become more engaged. Additionally, Eta Xi Sigma’s Membership Committee created positive programming that is aligned with our R3 Initiative (Recruit, Reclaim and Retain) that has increased the chapter’s level of involvement.
Through our numerous sorority and affiliate events, we have continued to keep our Sigma torch aglow by offering educational programming, scholarships to Chicagoland area high school seniors going to college, and philanthropic services to our local communities. In addition, we support the National Pan-Hellenic Council (Chicago Chapter) programs and events. With the help of our partners, State Farm Insurance Company, Illinois State Police, Illinois Department of Transportation, John B. Drake Elementary School, Dunbar Vocational Career Academy High School, Gary Comer Youth Center, and Trinity Advocate Hospital, we were able to continue offering quality programs for members of our targeted communities.
We salute our fellow Sorors, Philos, and Rhoers of the Central Region. We are all working to do our part in carrying out the true mission of our esteemed founders while we work hard to uplift our respective local communities. We encourage and support your efforts to continuously promote our motto “Greater Service, Greater Progress.”
This year, we mourned the loss of our sisters, Soror Judy Presswood and Dr. Carrie Filer Davis (charter member). Eta Xi Sigma continues to emphasize the true meaning of sisterhood to help uplift one another. We have remained supportive and encouraged each other to continue the legacy of our sisters who have transitioned to Omega Rho. The Ladies of Eta Xi Sigma, our undergraduates, Omicron Beta and Xi Lambda, Phenomenal Philos and Rhomarkable Rhoers have proven that through all adversity, we remain “Central UNBREAKABLE 2.0.”
In sisterhood and service,
