Golden Alert Scholarships

Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. and Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority National Education Fund, Inc. have partnered to offer scholarships to students pursing education in the field of criminal justice or law. The students selected for these scholarships must meet the application requirements identified and provide a statement evidencing an interest in using his or her degree to pursue “equal justice under the law,” promote social change, or work toward the empowerment of marginalized or underrepresented communities.
To apply for a scholarship, the applicant must:
  1. Be a graduate or undergraduate student pursing education in the field of criminal justice or law at an accredited college, university, graduate school or law school. The Applicant must submit a letter, on college or university letterhead, verifying the same by Applicant’s advisor or professor.
  2. Have a current overall Grade Point Average of at least 2.8/4/0 (or a B average) supported by Applicant’s most recent transcript of coursework completed.
  3. Submit a statement of no more than 250 words describing Applicant’s interest in using his or her degree to pursue “equal justice under the law,” promote social change, or work toward the empowerment of marginalized or underrepresented communities.
  4. Applications that are not accompanied by the information requested above will not be considered.
  5. Picture of applicant (jpg or gif format – for publishing in our publications)
  6. Two (2) letters of reference. (excluding family members)

Eta Xi Sigma 2016 Scholarship Application

GraduationOn August 16, 1992, forty-six women chartered Eta Xi Sigma Alumnae Chapter in Oak Lawn, Illinois, one of the largest graduate chapters in Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority’s history. As their numbers grew, they saw a need to further their Founders’ dream of achievement through higher education, and thus, expanded their services in the community through the awarding of college scholarships to highly talented and deserving graduating high school seniors. Scholarship recipients will be identified as an Eta Xi Sigma Scholar and honored at our annual Pre-Mother’s Day Luncheon and Fashion Show.

Application Deadline
Applications must be received or postmarked by March 4, 2016. Confirmations of receipt will be sent via email only. Incomplete applications and those postmarked after March 4, 2016 will not be considered.
